Hank and The Palm Beach Post: Round 7

I think The Palm Beach Post has a love/hate relationship with the man.

Back in 2005, Beth Givens was quoted in an article by Stephen Pounds about Hank Asher. She suggested the early corporate culture at Database Technologies (DBT) was laissez-faire in screening who had access to The Data. Having worked in DBT’s corporate culture, I know for a fact there was nothing lassez-faire about who had access to public records data.

For awhile I was keeping track of classic Hank or what I like to call Hankisms.

One sentence, just a few words you and I would have never thought of stringing together, and your entire perspective on life can shift. You’ll be rolling around on the floor laughing for the next week as what you just heard gets air time in your head. Or, you’ll be so stunned, your body will go rigid as you try to wrap your brain around the fact that he just said that.

I think there’s something in the water up in Indiana because they seem to produce the most unique people on the planet.

In an article about Hank Asher’s latest business, The Palm Beach Post had this to say about him last month:

Asher is a 57-year-old motor mouth who favors pink polo shirts, enjoys smoking the tires of his souped-up black Mercedes and imagines that God is a black woman.

HA! Now I just KNOW the man dropped a truism or two during that interview.

I haven’t heard or read a Hankism in a long time. That just made my day.

This latest one in The Palm Beach Post made my day as well. It’s not the gut-wrenchingly funny, classic Hank Asher I’m used to but it’s likely the fuel for the fire, his raison d’ĂȘtre… and I’ve heard it before. Many years ago.
